Abstract
In this study, using 51 experimental rabbits, proper doses of Dithiazanine iodide(D.I.) were administered to the rabbits from 1 day prior, 1st day, 5th day, 15th day, 25th day and 45th day of the infection with 500 or 1,000 Clonorchis sinensis metacercariae. The wormicidal effect of D.I. in these groups was judged by the results of Clonorchis eggs in feces and detection status of the adult worms from the liver at autopsy.
And the following results were obtained.
1) In the group of 10 times administration of D.I. 100mg(70mg/kg body weight) in every day dosage from first day of the administration of Clonorchis sinensis metacercariae, there no eggs nor worms were detected, and this means complete inhibitory action of D.I. in this event. This action was not influenced by the number of metacercariae given.
2) In the groups of 15 times administration of D.I. 50mg (35mg/kg) in every day dosage from first day of the administration of C. sinensis metacercariae and 5 times administration of D.I. 100mg(70mg/kg) in every day dosage from 1 day prior to the administration of the metacercariae, there very low infection rate of clonorchiasis was observed.
3) In the groups of 10 times administration of D.I. 100mg(70mg/kg) in every day dosage from 5th day, 15th day, 25th day and 45th day of the administration of the metacercariae, the detection rates of adult worms were 15.0%, 12.4%, 6.0% and 20.6% respectively. Each of these rate was lower than that of control group, 42.0%.
